Twikini for Windows Mobile?

So, I’m going to try out this new Windows Mobile Twitter application called Twikini. I’d been using PockeTwit until I reset my phone today. It promises to allow access to my favorite features like picture uploads and gps publishing. I’m excited to see if the differences are noticeable between PockeTwit and Twikini. I’m hopeful.

Picasa Web Albums (and Picasa 3)

I started using Picasa Web Albums again. It's a nice way to share photo's and Picasa 3 has added a very simple way to upload them as well. It can also provide an email which will tell you who has updated their photos, or made comments on others.

Buck 2008In addition, I went hunting last weekend. Two does slept within 20 feet of my stand all Saturday morning. I shot my small buck at 10:24 that morning. I brought home two bucks - one that my uncle donated to us, and mine. Devin shot a very large buck. He may have pics to share, or may send them to me to post.

First Day of Snow!

imageWork up this morning to a bit of blowing snow. Yay, winter is on its way!

Planning on hunting in Arkansas over turkey day weekend with Ross, and Kari just bought our tickets for Atlanta to see Rob and Stephanie over Jesus fake birthday weekend. I've been out a few times with Devin and Lenny hunting pheasants, but without success. However, yesterday, with Jesse and Jeffrey, I finally got a a shot off, and it paid off too. Kari says I shot something in her honor. Deer hunting is the second weekend in November, and dad, Devin, Mike, me, and Kari will be heading over to Kenny's for that. None of us drew doe tags, so we'll be watching herd of does snacking beneath our stands the whole weekend. Good thing I like being outdoors anyway. Provided it doesn't pay off that weekend, I have a few other dates planned for hunting the elusive deer.

Dad and mom celebrated their 39th Anniversary last night. All of us kids went over to the new apartment and had dinner and then did family photo's. Will post once I get them back...

Two Anniversaries (Itch Vanishes)

Not everyone gets to celebrate two wedding anniversaries each year. But we do.

Kari and I were married in the sight of hundreds of witnesses on Saturday June 17th, 2000. It was a beautiful day to be married. The sun was shining and warm and there were no rain clouds in the sky. However, the State of Minnesota has no idea that day was complete with our exchange of enduring vows of commitment.

Somehow, (thanks Dad, Devin, and Tara... wink, wink) the state believes we were married on a Monday. Monday June 19th, 2000.

There was nothing significant about Monday the 19th, other than two lovers were enjoying their first of several long, relaxing days in Key West, Florida where they spent their honeymoon. Chalk it up to dim lighting in the reception hall that evening or perhaps a faulty date feature on a wristwatch, the minister who presided over the ceremony (hi Dad) wrote with permanent ink that Matthew and Kari Koob were married June 19th, 2000. A couple weeks after the newlyweds returned from their honeymoon, they found in their mailbox a certificate of marriage - dated two days too late.

Simply put, Minnesota has on record that we married two days after we married. That means that when Kari changed her social security card information and applied for a new passport, she had to list the legal wedding date in order to avoid confusing the clerk who would enter the data from her applications.

But it also means that we get to celebrate TWO anniversary dates every year! Not only that, but we get to spread that celebration period out over three days, the 17th, 18th, and the 19th of June.

I have never forgotten our anniversary - at least not after the second or third day...

So I Live in the North Now...

It's strange, really, moving to a new congregation. For 28 years I was in the same congregation - a great congregation - a congregation I really got to know. In fact, I believe that you know your congregation if you 1) Know where they live 2) Know where they work, and 3) Know what medical infirmities they suffer from.

Now I'm in a new congregation. Here's my current calculation of congregational credentials:

Of 70 or so members, I know where less than 20 live. Off to a bad start, I know. Of those 20 who's homes I've driven past - I maybe know where 15 of them work. That's a big maybe. And of the 15 whose homes and works I know - I couldn't tell you in the least what medical infirmity they currently suffer from.

I guess I've got my work cut out for me.

One month down come Sunday and I haven't learned much - other than that Friday nights are 'movie night', 'house cleaning' night, 'crabby kids' night and 'working past 7pm' night. If you're a Northerner, and up for something social on Friday nights - please call. I'd love to find out where you live, work, and what you suffer from. :)

Hep! Hep! New congregation discoveries!

Giada de Lahooha

She can put together a mean piece of chicken! Tonight I made Roman Style Chicken (her Style, to be more accurate) and it turned out nearly magnificently - I overcooked the chicken because I didn't read ahead the instructions. That, and Coborn's Superstore Sartell didn't have prosciuitto, so I used ham. What should I have used? Any suggestions to substitute for prosciuitto? I mean, it IS ham, ok.

That was the first meal cooked in the new apartment. Since Friday, we've eaten at the Blue Line twice, and cooked four pizzas in the oven. I made a huge mess as always. But I sort of cleaned it up.

I haven't met any of my neighbors yet, but will be introducing myself sometime this week, once I feel like I can invite them over - in case that comes up. At this point, it's still boxes upon boxes of unpackedables. The new fish stand looks fantastic, and it seems as though the fish appreciate it nearly as much as we do. They're doing swimmingly.

Tomorrow starts our fist day of regular workweek activity. The old 925. 825 if you count an hour for lunch. However, our 925 (825) always has room for a little entertaining. So if you're in the mood to stop on over, please do. Just let me know you're coming, and I'll put something in the skillet!

We Replaced the Car Today

We went in this morning to St. Cloud Toyota and picked up a 2007 Toyota Corolla LE. It looks sharp, wouldn't you agree?

07 Corolla

Just to let you know, four 6-footers can comfortably fit in this model of Corolla. With my seat back as far as I like, I can still sit behind myself and have room to wiggle my knees. When we discovered that feature, we had to ask ourselves, "What's the purpose of getting a Camry when it's more expensive, consumes more gas, and has, in fact, received a poorer grade in crash reports when compared to the Corolla?"

So, don't be afraid to ride-share with us. You will be comfortable.
